New School Studio

The school i work for is getting a new building and within this there is a recording studio - of which i am the engineer/manager/tech/everything.

the equipment has started to arrive for the studio and i put the rack equipment in a temporary rack and set the mixer/monitors up, plugged in my MacBook Pro running Avid Pro Tools 10 and started.

The Tascam DM-4800 is a bit of a learing curve but i am getting there. Won't be long until im fluently using all of its amazing features.

(this image was taken in the old school building and no this is not our studio, this is the ICT innovation room)

Pro Tools 10 - Continued (Plugins)

The transition to Avid Pro Tools 10 continues to be very simple, with the layout and keyboard shortcuts being in all of the logical places.

One of the main aspects of Pro Tools that i am benefiting from most is the Plugins, both inbuilt and using third party plugins such as the Waves and PSP collections - they have added a sense of professionalism to my work.

The Following plugins are the ones that i seem to have used the most recently - with the most recent track having the Waves Aural Exciter, AIR TrueVerb and the PSP Vintage Warmer on the vocal bus.

Pro Tools 10 - Beginning

Beat making in Avid Pro Tools 10 - Using KRK KNS-8400 headphones for monitoring.

Mixing a session in Pro Tools 10.
I am using some raw tracks i downloaded from a band page - the band is called Snowmine and the song is Curfews. (note i have no connection to this band whatsoever, the raw tracks are available to download for this use.)

This session is currently 47 tracks, using effects such as the PSP vintage warmer, WAVES ssl comp etc.

This is only about half way through the mix, i have done a little processing and some small sections of automation.

Recording In Case of Change - Logic Pro

In the summer of 2010 i recorded 2 songs for a small time local band called In Case of Change.
This is the first song i had ever recorded and mixed so the quality isn't great, however as i have progressed over the past 2 years i have expanded my knowledge massively and am now creating mixes that sound all together more like CD quality tracks.
One of the songs was a cover on Mr Brightside originally performed by The Killers.

Here is their acoustic cover:
